Kolkata, August 2026 – The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata is delighted to announce the return of the Thai Film Festival in Kolkata 2026, presenting an inspiring showcase of contemporary Thai cinema under the theme "Siam Symphony: A Cinematic Journey Through Time & Scenery." Bringing together stories that celebrate Thailand's landscapes, heritage, emotions and people, the festival invites Indian audiences to discover the many shades of Thailand through the universal language of cinema.
Festival Highlights
This year's festival features a carefully curated selection of seven acclaimed Thai films, spanning heartwarming dramas, coming-of-age stories, romance and timeless classics. Each film reflects a different facet of Thai culture, offering audiences an immersive cinematic journey through the country's traditions, natural beauty and contemporary storytelling.
The festival lineup includes Love Destiny, the acclaimed historical romance that will inaugurate the festival; Low Season, a charming romantic drama set amidst the misty mountains of Northern Thailand; Panyi I Sea You, an uplifting story of dreams, friendship and community inspired by life on Thailand's floating village; Human Resource, a thought-provoking drama exploring human relationships and the complexities of modern life; Gohan... Go Home, a heartfelt family film celebrating love, belonging and self-discovery; Timeline: The Letter of Memory, an emotional romance that beautifully explores love, memories and destiny; and The Overture, an award-winning cinematic classic celebrating Thailand's rich musical heritage and artistic legacy.

Beyond the screen, the festival offers audiences an opportunity to experience Thailand through its stories, traditions and landscapes. From picturesque countryside settings and vibrant coastal communities to timeless music, culture and heartfelt narratives, each film presents a unique window into the country's rich heritage and contemporary identity. Organised in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the festival reflects a shared commitment to promoting Thailand's rich cultural heritage and inspiring Indian audiences to explore the country beyond its popular destinations through the powerful medium of cinema.
Opening Reception
The festival will open with a special inaugural reception at Cinépolis, Acropolis Mall, Kolkata, on Friday, 7 August 2026, welcoming distinguished guests, including members of the consular corps, Indian film industry professionals, media representatives and cultural enthusiasts, to celebrate the beginning of this three-day cinematic festival. The inaugural screening will feature Love Destiny, marking the official opening of the festival and setting the stage for a memorable celebration of Thai cinema.
Public Screenings Schedule
Following the opening event, the Thai Film Festival in Kolkata 2026 will present seven FREE public screenings from 7–9 August 2026 at Cinépolis, Acropolis Mall, offering cinephiles and film enthusiasts a unique opportunity to experience acclaimed Thai cinema on the big screen with English subtitles.
