A Celebration Of Stagecraft's Unsung Heroes And The Fascination Of Human Look-Alikes

To Pay Tribute To Sholay, On The Film's 50th Anniversary

Stagecraft Foundation unveiled the Poster of the 8th Edition of the Stagecraft Awards 2025 at the Science City Auditorium, Kolkata. The occasion marked an important prelude to the Stagecraft Awards 2025, which will be held on Friday, 21st November 2025, at Science City Auditorium from 6 pm onwards. The annual felicitation, organized by Stagecraft Foundation, honors the live stage technicians, the often-unseen yet indispensable backbone of every performance.

The unveiling took place in the presence of legendary singer Ms Usha Uthup, Founder Trustee & Chairperson, Stagecraft Foundation, Mr Pramod Grover, Director, Science City and superstar Face of Stagecraft Awards, Mr Prosenjit Chatterjee, along with the Stagecraft core team members Mr Shiladitya Chaudhury, Mr Dibyendu Shekhor Lahiri, Mr Anil Kuriokose and Mr Gautam Jain who jointly revealed the official poster, marking the beginning of this year's celebrations.

"The poster unveiling marks the beginning of another memorable chapter in our journey. To acknowledge the golden jubilee of the epoch-making mammoth film, Sholay, we have theme's this year's award ceremony as Stagecraft Ke Sholay. With Stagecraft Ke Sholay we would be celebrating illusion, artistry and the power of those who make magic happen from behind the curtains. This will be are our heartfelt salute to the unmatched dedication and creativity of the technicians, designers, directors and visionaries who breathe life into every performance. They are the unsung heroes whose brilliance often stays hidden behind the spotlight, yet without them, the magic of the stage would simply not exist. Through these awards, we honour their spirit, passion and invaluable contribution to the world of entertainment," said Ms Usha Uthup, Founder Trustee & Chairperson, Stagecraft Foundation.

Earlier in the day, a Jury Meet was held at the Science City Seminar Hall bringing together eminent jury members from the entertainment and corporate sectors. The panel was led by Ms Usha Uthup, Founder Trustee & Chairperson, Stagecraft Foundation, Mr Tanmoy Bose, Percussionist & Composer, Ms Iman Chakraborty, Singer, Ms Jaya Seal, Dancer & Actress, Mr Jimmy Tangree, Radio Jockey & Media Personality, Ms Sanchita Bhattacharya, Odissi Dancer.

The concept of Stagecraft Ke Sholay delves into the fascination of human body doubles and look-alikes, paying tribute to the artistry and illusion that have long captivated audiences across time and cultures. From royal decoys and theatrical mimics to modern-day impersonators and AI-generated doubles, the theme reflects on the evolving relationship between identity, creativity and authenticity in the world of performance.
