Kolkata, September 2026: Filmmaker Shrestha Ganguly’s Hindi short film MEMOIRE has won the 2nd position at a film festival, marking another significant achievement for the film.Richa Sharma was honoured with the prestigious award.
The 17-minute-49-second film was selected for the festival’s competition section and was screened at Nandan 3. The filmmaker was invited to attend the screening and the award ceremony, which was held on 21 September at 6:30 PM in the presence of Tollywood personalities and other dignitaries.
Prior to this, MEMOIRE was also screened at Alliance Française du Bengale as part of a special screening programme featuring 36 films.
Directed by Shrestha Ganguly, MEMOIRE is a gentle and emotional story about first love, memories and letting go. The film follows Madhura, who returns to her native city after many years. As she revisits familiar streets, cafés and old neighbourhoods, memories of her first love, Louis, a half-French boy she met during her youth, begin to return.
Their relationship had been brief but intense. Years later, when they unexpectedly meet again, the reunion brings back warmth, laughter and nostalgia. But Madhura slowly realizes that perhaps she was not holding on to Louis, but to the beautiful version of herself she had been when they were together.
Through Madhura’s journey, MEMOIRE explores how some relationships may not have a future, yet can leave behind memories that remain with us forever. The film is ultimately about accepting the past, cherishing what it gave us and finding the courage to move forward.
The film has been accepted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and its selection and recognition at the festival add another milestone to its journey.
