Platform 8 Launches New Bengali Web Series ‘Swargarath Sargaram’

Platform 8 one of the regional OTT platforms in Bengal is getting ready to launch its new web series, Swargarath Sargaram on June 17 2026. This series is directed by Arijeet Toton Chakraborty. It has seven episodes. It is a comedy-drama that tells a story about people and their struggles. The story is about survival being strong and how peoples attitudes are changing in Bengal.

The series has a cast, including Lokenath Dey, Pradip Dhar, Taranga Sarkar, Durbar Sharma, Pushan Dasgupta, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and Arshiya Mukherjee. Swargarath Sargaram is a story that shows what life is like in a village. It talks about things like being respected making a living and hoping for a better life.

The main character, Balahari is a man in his mid-fifties. He has a responsibility to take care of his wife, Manasi and their two sons, Monta and Ghanta. Balahari is a driver but he loses his job during the lockdown. He tries hard to find a new job to support his family. After trying everything he realizes that driving is the thing he knows well.

Balahari wants to start his life so he sells his wifes jewellery and goes to the city to find work. He buys a hearse and takes it back to his village. He thinks this will be a beginning for him. However when the hearse arrives in the village it causes a discussion among the people. Some people think the hearse is a sign and will bring bad luck while others think it is a good thing and will help the community.

What makes Swargarath Sargaram special is the way the hearse becomes a part of the story. It is not a vehicle but a character that sees peoples happy and sad moments. It helps shape their lives. Becomes a big part of the story.

I was interested in the idea that a vehicle that is usually associated with sadness and death could become a symbol of hope and transformation. As the story unfolds the hearse becomes a part of the characters lives. Helps tell their story. We tried to create a story that's entertaining, heartfelt and real. I hope people will laugh with the characters feel sorry for their struggles and learn about being strong and persevering."

Swargarath Sargaram has a cast, including Lokenath Dey as Balahari, Pradip Dhar as Dhananjay Bata, Taranga Sarkar as Jibon, Durbar Sharma as Rashik Pushan Dasgupta as Monta, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya as Pradhan and Arshiya Mukherjee as Parul.

The series is based on a story by Iman Chakraborty, who also co-wrote the screenplay and dialogues with Pele Bhattacharya. The title track, composed by Souptik and sung by Aritra Dasgupta is beautiful. Matches the emotional and uplifting spirit of the series.
