Bangla ZEE5 Original Crime Series, Ganoshotru Premieres 31 st October

Kolkata, 22nd October, 2025: Today Bangla ZEE5 physically released the trailer of their new web series Ganoshotru directed by Peter SP, which stars actors Paoli Dam, Rudranil Ghosh, Ayush Das, Debopriyo Mukherjee and Subrata Dutta playing major roles. The trailer is already visible in all the major social media sites of Bangla ZEE5. The lead cast and crew members were present in the launch event of Taj Vivanta among Ms Rusa Banerjee, Business Head, Bangla ZEE5.

Ganoshotru will present 5 spine-chilling true life stories that were based on the life of some of the brightest personas of the crime world of Bengal. These people, who hail out of extremely lowly backgrounds, later became the most infamous faces to the people and the police, under the exploitation of the society, and financial difficulties. This is a rough-and-tumble crime epic which will be a mixture of both fact and fiction, as we follow the rule, rule-bending, and rule-breaking of some of the most dreaded criminals in Bengal and have a glimpse of the power, the psychology, the shadows that they have left behind. These 5 episodes of Ganoshotru will see Paoli Dam play the role of Troilokya Devi, Rudranil Ghosh play the role of Hubba Shyamal, Ayush Das play the role of Sajal Barui, Debopriyo Mukherjee play the role of The Chain Man and Subrat Dutta play the role of Rashid Khan.

Ganoshotru introduces the cold-blooded portraits of the most frightening criminals in India- a parricidal teenager, a necrophiliac murderer, a con-woman turned a murderer and a mastermind of bomb-blasts. One of them, Troilokya Devi, the first female serial killer in India, became an extortionist and a ruthless killer after being a Brahmin widow. The politically sponsored gangster Hubba Shyamal controlled the underworld of Bengal. The Chainman (who strangled women), young fugitive Sajal Barui and Rashid Khan, the man behind the fatal Bowbazar blast in 1993 which ripped Kolkata are among the other characters in the series.

Although a woman mafia, Troilokya Devi is a woman with a malicious intent. It was not only a strong but a difficult role to play and every detail had been created to maintain the authenticity of her time, said actress, Ms Paoli Dam.

The fact that Hubba Shyamal is a notorious mobster who managed to flee in spite of his offenses, made it interesting and gripping to portray him. In a bid to make it real and layered, each episode is carefully interwoven to make it feel gripping and real as I tried to do with Ganoshotru, said actor, Mr Rudranil Ghosh.

Sajal Barui was a young man but very clever and his ways could make people fear him.

The actor, Mr Ayush Das, said he went into the inner world of Samik Roy Chowdhury, under the guidance of the latter, to depict his ascent to the criminal world in the most realistic manner.

Chainman character reveals the way of turning suppressed human needs into conflict and violence. It was a hard privilege to play this cold-blooded killer and I know that a viewer will be captivated by the dramatic story of Ganoshotru.

The hidden brutality was shown when Rashid Khan, the satta king, organized a terror attack through a blast in Kolkata. All through the series, we concentrated on the authenticity of the portrayal of the facts and characters, Mr Subrata Dutta.

Abhirup Ghosh has directed the song The Chainman in Ganoshotru. It is the directorial debut of Madhura Palit who was the Cinematographer in the series, also a director in the track on Troilkya Devi, Sayan Dasgupta in the track on Rashid Khan, Samik Roy Chowdhury in the direction of the track on Sajal Barui and Srimanta Senguptta in the direction of the track on Hubba Shyamal.

On 31 st October, 2025, Bangla ZEE5 will be the sole platform to release Ganoshotru; a thrilling story of the political unrest in Bengal and the rule of terror in Bengal.
